Busy Internal Medicine office in Dallas has an immediate opening for an insurance/patient billing and coding specialist. This position will require some coverage of back office duties as well as some managerial duties. This position is full-time Monday thru Friday, no weekends. Job Requirements:
- Minimum 1 years experience in medical billing/coding.
- Experience in patient and insurance collections
- Excellent grammar, verbal and written communication skills
- Knowledge in reading insurance EOBs
- Knowledge in insurance and patient payment posting
- Medical terminology, including knowledge of CPT, ICD-9, HCPCS and CPT modifiers
- Knowledge of insurance processing and guidelines
- Ability to work effectively with staff and be part of a team
- Ability to work independently and with limited supervision
- Computer literate. Experience of Medisoft software a plus.
- Attendance and punctuality a must
Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- Process and follow-up on claims and appeals to insurance companies
- Collection of current and past due patient balances
- Responsible for coding and timely submission of claims
- Answering incoming patient (insurance/patient) phone calls
- Process returned patient mail
