This role provides clinical expertise and education to radiation oncology patients. Promotes effective education to patients, family, staff and the community, participates in cancer program, participates in performance improvement activities and navigates patients through their own cancer experience.
Education:
Valid California Registered Nurse License and BSN required, OCN preferred.
Experience:
At least three years acute care nursing experience, two within the last 5 years required. Recent Oncology experience and chemotherapy administration required. Radiation Oncology experience preferred.
Knowledge:
Knowledge in the field of radiation oncology and medical oncology. Basic computer, word processing, and calendar. Strong customer service and interpersonal skills. Knowledge of HIPPA regulations as they pertain to patient privacy and protected health information. Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, are required. Dynamic and motivating teaching style in individual and group teaching settings required. Strong organizational skills and ability to work with a minimal amount of supervision and effectively establish work priorities. Self-motivated and proven ability to work both independently or effectively as a team with a variety of healthcare specialists. Effective problem solving skills and ability to concentrate on multiple and varied tasks.
